Reinforced action forms a habit: Learning from a bird feeder

Every late afternoon, my wife always sees this man feeding the birds. This has become a routine, I suppose, since the birds were already flocking when they noticed that their feeder was opening the garage. A sign that the meal is coming soon!

It is interesting to see that these birds can learn what to expect when the signs are coming. Well, they should be since they have to read the signs of nature to migrate. But if animals can build a habit through routine, we humans should be more capable and intelligent to create a productive habit. Not just to consume, but more importantly to create.
